Unrelated: Using Feedback For Personal Growth and Progress
It's not possible to change anyone's behavior through feedback or advice. The only person we can control is ourselves. It is crucial to accept feedback, but we must also understand our boundaries. We should separate emotions, stories, and feedback to identify what is relevant. Our interpretation of feedback provides valuable perspective. To ensure progress and focus on feedback, it's essential for all parties involved to set a time to meet and discuss. By working towards a shared goal, both parties can achieve resolution and grow together.
Focusing on your passions, ideas, and role models can be a practical approach to personal growth. Staying calm and avoiding overly analyzing criticism while seeking constructive feedback is important. This is an opportunity to grow and improve yourself. It's essential to consider helpful criticism while reframing unfair criticism as misguided praise. Also, it's okay not to feel pressured to share anything too personal. Remember that your work does not define your worth, and keep moving forward.
Current Work: Proactive Leadership
To be a proactive leader, it's crucial to have thinking space to focus on creating real value for your business. A calendar filled with back-to-back appointments doesn't indicate your leadership. It suggests that you set and maintain clear boundaries, manage your time, or dedicate time for reflection.
Collaborate rather than demand. Set up a framework for collaboration. Break down the project into milestones & provide estimates on these. Define milestones that are easy to communicate to stakeholders. Communicate project status to stakeholders. Manage and call out risks. Help the team ship and delegate (both to the team and upwards).
Ensure the quality and reliability of the shipped product. Define your goals and objectives for yourself and your team. Develop your communication skills, both verbal and written. Be clear and concise in your communication, and try to listen to others. Encourage your team to take ownership of their work and give them the freedom to make decisions and solve problems. This will help them develop their leadership skills and feel more invested in their work. Practice what you preach and set a positive example for others to follow. This includes being punctual, meeting deadlines, and being respectful and professional. Seek feedback from others, both positive and constructive, and be open to learning and improving. This will help you identify growth and development areas and become a better leader. As a leader, you will often be faced with tough decisions. Practice making decisions, even if they are small, to build your decision-making skills and confidence.
