Off Topic: How to Deliver Value to Customers Faster and More Efficiently

In the engineering industry, it's common for teams to follow agile processes without considering the effectiveness of their approach. If your team is stuck in the "agile zombie mode," it's time to take ownership of the process and start fresh. Begin by identifying the problems and adding processes that add value to the business. Keep things simple by removing unnecessary steps and focusing on delivering value to the customer. Remember, delivering value doesn't just mean releasing a product or feature to the public. If something is valuable but has yet to be shared, it's not benefiting anyone. Agile aims to deliver the proper outcomes faster by identifying smaller increments that can be deployed now instead of later.

To ensure successful onboarding, assign a mentor to a new hire. The mentor can work with the new hire to fix a defect or implement a minor feature, which is crucial for learning what delights customers. Providing value is essential to make customers happy and safe, such as by releasing a bug fix, and it also allows for experimentation and learning.
